5 Anime Workout Scenes That Will Inspire You To Hit The Gym Today

anime workout scenes

If you have been a major fan of the typical martial arts (or shōnen) type of animes, there is a 99% chance you have been inspired atleast once in your lifetime by a certain Anime Workout scene. A lot of animes have in common that the main protagonist seeks strength in order to protect himself or those he adores. In his journey he usually goes through very intense training sessions. Besides gaining physical strength, he usually grows spiritual and mentally as well. Because the main hero usually starts out weak (or atleast less strong), it makes those training scenes that much more recognizable, appealing and inspiring for the viewer. Discover 5 anime workout scenes that that will inspire you to start your own fitness journey and hit the gym today!

5. Anime Workout Scene: Izuku Midoriya (Boku No Hero Academia) training for ‘One For All’.

Watching Izuku (Known as Deku) pushing himself hard to prepare his body for the ‘One For All’ power is very inspiring. Izuku was born without a quirk (superpower). To see him having an opportunity to get one and putting in 100% effort to achieve his goal is truly heartwarming and inspiring.

4. Anime Workout Scene: Baki Hanma (Baki the Grappler) training for Yasha.

When Baki was training for the Yasha fight, it made my so psyched up that I started punching like I was Rocky Balboa while watching the scenes. Yes I hit a wall and yes it hurt so much it felt like I broke my knucle. Was it worth it? Hell yeah! This training scene is epic as well!

3. Anime Workout Scene: Kenichi Shirahama (History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi) starting at the Ryōzanpaku dojo.

Kenichi Shirahama’s story is the type that fits perfectly in the stereotypical ‘weak-to-strong’ shōnen story. However that does not make it any less enjoyable to watch. The goofy character of Kenichi and his journey to greatness is one watched with tears of laughing and crying and will motivate you to start training as hard as he does. What I liked the most of this series is the variety of martial arts teachers and teachings that Kenichi receives. Not only does he learn Japanese martial arts like Jiujitsu, Karate and Ninjutsu, but Muay Thai (Thai) and Kungfu (Chinese) as well.

2. Anime Workout Scene: Son Goku (DragonBallZ) training to defeat Frieza.

When you see Son Goku training in space, with 100x times the Earth’s normal gravity, in order to fight Frieza, you can not help but feel motivated. He pushed himself so hard to the point that he almost killed himself. Thank Kami-sama (or should I say Korin) for the senzu beans! Saiyan grows much stronger exponentially when their bodies recover after being exposed to a near death situation. Because the training took so long (and I mean very long), it made the moment Goku came out of that spaceship that much more special. DragonBallZ has been famous for motivating many fighters (like Randy Rousey from UFC, who admitted Vegeta was her cartoon crush) and bodybuilders (like the Train Insaiyan shirts) to hit the gym.

1. Anime Workout Scene: Rock Lee (Naruto) training to become a splendid ninja without using ninjutsu.

rock lee training to become a ninja again

Although he is not the main character of the series, Rock Lee’s journey (becoming a ninja without being able to use ninjutsu) was the definition of inspiration. The dialogues and charateristics that is portrayed in the scene where we see him training to achieve his ninja goal is astonishing. Lee was never born a genius like his teammate Neji. He was born without the ability to use ninjutsu and had average taijutsu skills as a kid. This made him spending his childhood as an outcast. Lee however, who is not the type to give up (Read: 5 Habits For Succes We Can Learn From Rock Lee) compensated what he lacked in ninjutsu, with working hard in perfecting his taijutsu. I think a lot of us could relate to how Lee felt at that moment and have shared the same emotions at a certain moment in our own lives. This made it all that much more emotional and inspiring. It was raw, pure and stronger than any preworkout that I had!
